The Addiction
Topic: Me!
It occurred to me yesterday that I have an addiction. No, it's not chocolate b/c I've found myself turning it down. And it's not ice cream either, b/c I've also turned it down lately. It's COKE!! I'm addicted to coke. Can you believe it?? ;)

If you've been in my house and seen my kitchen (you can catch glimpses of it via our website), you know that our kitchen is vintage coke. I also drink the "unleaded" coke since I try to avoid caffeine, but I can't get enough!!! There is nothing like a big glass full of ice filled with the original coke. PLEASE DON'T TRY TO GIVE ME DIET!! I WILL NOT DRINK IT!! I WILL IN FACT SPIT IT BACK IN YOUR FACE, CALL YOU SLANDEROUS NAMES AND STOMP ON YOUR FOOT IF YOU THINK YOU CAN SNEAK IT BY ME.

What I find odd is the fact that Christopher can't seem to get enough of the diet variety, yet if you sit a regular coke and diet coke in front of him, he will take a drink of each and not know the difference. That's just plain wrong!!!!!

I just never knew how much I craved that brown drink. It used to be water that I wanted, now I drink coke like water. Maybe it's the pregnancy. . .who knows. But is it ironic that I don't allow Cale to ingest the drug???? ;)

OMG! I'm addicted to it as well - diet version - but I just can't help myself when it comes to a coke! I've tried for about a year now to cut back and while I do OK for a couple days, I always end up right back at too many. It's the fizz I crave the most, but the flavor is good too. My brother says the same thing. I think they've added something in the last few years to it to get all of us stuck on the stuff.
I don't want to have to go cold turkey, but I think that may be the only solution for me. I don't want to stop, but I feel I must. I'm on my second bottle already and it's only 10:00am - this has got to stop! ;-)

Lauren doesn't like the fizz, but I wouldn't let her have any anyway.

AB once mentioned in her blog that if she were Jesus, she would want to change water not only into wine but also into Diet Coke. I love, love, love that stuff. Erika's father taught me about the superiority of a truly well-blended fountain Coke to anything in a can, and two summers ago I had a fountain Diet Coke at the San Diego Zoo that I can taste to this day. Nectar of the gods. Hate regular Coke. Gotta be Diet Coke.

I have developed a cappuccino jones during this pregnancy, so don't feel bad. I don't even drink unleaded (Coke or cappuccino) because (a) it makes a huge difference in taste and (b) I am a terrible mother. So sue me. After four kids I've decided that a little caffeine isn't going to throw the earth out of rotation in the grand scheme of things.
