This dance always makes me smile
Topic: Weirdness
I'm not sure if anyone of you 3 people that read my blog have seen this or not, but it cracked me up.  Even funnier?  The "woman" that acted in this.  And I'm sure the auditions must have been pretty cut-throat. <eruption of laughter & applause>  But shoot, I can't think of a better way to spend time in lock-up!

Is life going back to normal???
Topic: Weirdness

Because today is the day he comes back!!  In about 3 hours. . .we'll get to see Jason again and he'll be back in Oklahoma FOR.EVER. Smile

He got to come home for a few days at the end of May due to the death of his grandmother.  But he'll never go back again. He's out of the army and back to teaching and mural'ing Laughing  He's coming home to a needy wife (she's Carly. . .what did you expect?), a son that now actually SPEAKS!!  And a house he's never seen before.  So here's what I did to help with all that.  Ok. . .Bubba made the call, but it was *MY* idea-r.

*snicker snicker snort*  Thanks to the lovely lady at Signs Now for donating this, along with 3 other signs for us to welcome him home properly today!

And thank God they're coming home and they're safe!!!  WOOO!!!!!!!!

Cracking myself up. . .over and over and over
Topic: Weirdness

Short story or long story?  I'll TRY for the short story ;)

Chris' grandparents had a dead tree in their front yard of the lake house.  His grandfather told him that if he came down to the lake and cut it down, it was his for firewood.  OUR'S for firewood.  I love myself a good fire. . .not a fake one, but one that requires actual wood that burns.  So he went.  He took the boys and went to the lake.

While there, it was a fiasco of monstrous proportions.  And to top it off, the tree they cut down was rotten.  It was no good for firewood.  I was a bit ticked, but shoot. . .on the flip side he did help his grandfather.

His grandmother felt bad and told him that she'd buy him some wood and to find prices.  So, Chris made calls, did some research and came to me one night with his dilemma.  We have a rack for our wood, however it's for half a rick. Rik.  Rick?  Rick.  Anyway. . . .we needed another rack.  Ready for the punch line that I can't seem to shake from my head and that cracks me up so much my belly jiggles in a Santa-like fashion?  Ok. . .I asked him this:

"So we need a half rick rack?"

PUHLEASE tell me you think that's as funny as I do.  Half rick rack.  Rick rack.  Seriously people, that's fuh-nnnnnny!

Yeah, well, you stink!!

Pru, Cale & Hershey's
Topic: Weirdness

Lots of little things to talk about today!!

First off, momma's kisser boy Pru Pru.  This child is now 2 (yeah. . .I'm late. . .he turned 2 Aug 8 LOL) but he can count to 11 and his vocabularly is amazing.  I'm sure it's the vocab of a "normal" 2 year old, but considering the fact that Cale took so long to speak, we are floored by Pruitt's talking!

Pru also loves music!  This excites me a ton!  His favorite songs right now are Buster Poindexter's Hot Hot Hot, Rob Thomas' Lonely No More and Nickelback's This is how You Remind Me.  Interesting selections for a 2 year old huh?

Now to Cale. . .he is fully into school and is finding his place at his new school.  This child LOVES his new school!!  He thinks it's awesome!!!!  And he's doing so well!!  Since school has started, we've seen a total change in his behavior and attitude at home.  His manners have improved and we are definitely feeling good about our decisions for this year.

Wondering why Hershey's is there too?  I'll tell ya!!  My weakness is chocolate, and mainly chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup.  I can't let it go!!  And now Hershey's has made my life even BETTER!  I grew up with the top to the syrup bottle being a "pull" top thing, and then you'd have to keep up with the clear plastic cover that ends up smushing any syrup left up there, into the top of the top. . .are you confused yet?? LOL  Well, Hershey's has developed a new FLIP TOP for the syrup!  WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad when that's what I'm excited about huh??

They came today
Topic: Weirdness

And it's a somber day now. . .the call came around 1:15pm. . .the voice apparently asked to speak to Sgt. Memoli, not Jason, not Mr.  SGT.  And she knew.  She knew that today was the day.

They were told 2 weeks ago he wasn't on the list to go.  He is now.  He leaves for Iraq in January.  Yes things can change, I hope they do.  But tonight, we know he will go.  He will be there representing our country.

Say a prayer for Tatee. . .we love him and want him back safe.  He's a great brother-in-law. . .short but great.  And he'll leave his wife of 2 years and his son.  He'll leave right after E turns 2.  Imagine what all he will miss in that year that he's gone.

We love you Jas and we'll help take care of Carly & E.   Today is the day they came. . .the orders came to take him to the desert.

The booby spider
Topic: Weirdness

I sometimes wonder why God granted me the gift of a boy.  And not just one boy.  TWO boys.  I am not an outside person.  I don't like the smell of outside, I don't like the smell of freshly mowed grass, I would prefer that both children and Bubba take a shower after entering the house from playing outside.  I know. . .I can dream and wish right??

And one can deduce that if I do not enjoy the grandeurs of the natural world, that I don't particularly care for the "things" living in it.  You would be correct.  I don't like bugs.  AT.  ALL.  In fact, spiders are my least favorite.  I actually have panic attacks with spiders.  It's super awful!

But last night, I was to help my brother-in-law, Jason the muralist, with his new website (only to be seen at www.MemoliArtS.com!).  My sister turned this into a family cook-out.  Ok. . .no problem.  Throw some lettuce in a bowl, corn in a pan and some meat on the grill.  Eat, continue with the plan of website building.  Well. . .I'm not sure where we went wrong, but the meat took a lot longer than expected.  Because of this delay, my busy work that was to be my tether to the kitchen indoors, was finished.  I was forced outside into nature.

Within one minute of going outdoors, I was bit by a mosquito.  TWICE.  I then ducked back in only to have my mom banging on the window motioning me out there again.  I grabbed a dryer sheet, shoved it in my back pocket and away I went.  (Yes, one of my crunchy friends told me of this trick and it worked like a CHARM!!!)  I sat down in the chair next to dad.

As we sit there talking, me jittery with the creepy-crawly feelings of mother nature, I had an itch.  That itch moved.  That itch was in my shirt.  To be more precise, that itch was in my shirt by the girls.  I look down, but see nothing.  I open the top of my shirt a bit and there, perched between my breasts is a spider.  I could have ripped both shirts off and started screaming, but, by the grace of God, I held onto my calmness.  I reached down, grabbed that tiny eight-legged varmint, and threw him to the grass.  Yes, he was tiny, not something to have mega-nightmares about, but still, he was a spider, I touched him and he was apparently a boob man.

After my breathing resumed, then the panic hit.  I thought my mom was going to have a heart-attack.  She said the look on my face was priceless.  Well, I don't care, I made it through, calmed myself down.  I think had the spider been anywhere else, I would have asked for help.  But I don't think my dad would have been comfortable with  me asking him to reach down my shirt to flick a spider out.  That would just be sick!!

Moral of the story: don't wear a low-cut shirt if you are afraid of spiders.

Piper's moral of the story: don't go outside.

Testing. . .
Topic: Weirdness

For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out why Tripod keeps EATING MY FREAKING POSTS!  I am seriously ticked at it.  Makes me angry.  I don't know what to do about it.

Wanna know what I've been doing since my last entry?  Two births, three dentist appointments, one filling re-done, one temporary crown, an IV complete with demerol, three days of doula training, two babywearing classes and one rockin' website.

I'll try to catch up later. . . if this works.

My Favorite Things
Topic: Weirdness

Isn't it time for some more of my favorite things??  I do believe it is!  It's been TWO YEARS since my last favorites entry.  Here we go!!

We'll start with Crocs.  Chris said it best.  "With the world being as technologically advanced as it is, why do the shoes that are the most comfortable have to be so ugly?"  I never thought they were that ugly, but they just didn't fit me right.  Then, they came out with Mary Janes!  I got to Dillard's a mere day after they received them in stock and QUICKLY bought the gold pair.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!! They are much narrower and not as clunky as the classic Beach style.  The woman I bought them from told me to buy black so they wouldn't "stand out and be so different" but HELLO!?!?  I adore shoes that stand out and are different!!  How many other women do you know that got married in WHITE Dr. Marten boots??

I always like to include skin care in my favorites list but this time there are TWO :)  The first is by Dove.  I have always been known for my name, my hair and my tan.  Since I've had children, my tan has gone down hill and I've begun to look like a white woman!  (Oh the shock and horror! LOL)  *Somehow* I ended up with a sample of Dove's new Energy Glow Lotion.  OH MY HEAVENS this stuff works and it works GREAT!!  I sported a very nice, smooth and non-orange tan this summer without being in the sun!  And it smells pretty darn good too!!  Now, I put it on about once every 2 weeks to maintain a certain color and no one knows it comes from a bottle.  No laying out, no orange and no tanning beds.  Gotta love Dove!!

On my last favorites list, I poured out my love for Philosophy products.  Yes, I do still love them and enjoy them when I get them (and with a new Sephora store opening in one of the malls, the products will be much easier to obtain), but since my Great-Aunt Myra purchased me some Vitabath, and it's widely available, I've been using it.  Chris has even been seen buying me some for gifts.  It's always a pleasing sight for me!

Next, I'm going to tell you about a product that I was VERY (and I mean VERY) hesitant on even thinking about.  One, because I don't openly talk about a woman's bodily functions (unless I'm helping someone to conceive in which I'm an open book) and two, because this just seemed like a rather "crunchy" thing to purchase.  But once I read about it, and talked to other women about it, it just seemed to make sense to me.  What is *IT* you ask?  It's called the DivaCup.  It's surprisingly comfortable, surprisingly easy to use and surprisingly clean!  Seriously. . .read up on it.  Ask others if they've heard about it.  I love mine and am now a bonified believer.  And as a funny for you, when telling and trying to explain the concept to Chris without him seeing it, he referred to it, and still does, as the "shot glass."  Nice eh??

I've been doing my doula training reading and one of the readings is a book by a woman named Ina May Gaskin.  Since reading her book on childbirth, I now suggest it to any woman that is pregnant.  Even those that aren't pregnant but that aren't done having children, I suggest you read this book.  Some parts are a bit on the "crunchy" side, but the stories are seriously empowering.  As much as I didn't want to give birth again because of the c-section, I can now say I'm *debating* it, which is more than I could say this time last year.

Wanna know something else I can't seem to live my life without?  OXICLEAN!  When someone talks about a stain they can't seem to get out, I find myself trying not to sound like that info-mercial.  But seriously. . .the stuff rocks!!  From breatmilk poops to spaghetti sauce to avocado!  It gets it all out!  And it doesn't ruin the clothes in the process.  Love it love it LOVE IT!

Well, that's all for now.  I know that I have a ton of other things to add to my list, but I must save them for now.  Have a wonderful evening!

Interesting to say the least
Topic: Weirdness

I'm going to start by saying that Tripod's new format sucks donkey butts.  Seriously.  I hate it.  It keeps eating my posts and the HTML won't work.  Ticks me off royally.

Anyway, I was on the phone with Bubba and clicked over to one of my "daily sites" and saw and advertisement for Bag Borrow or Steal. The idea behind this is genius, but somewhat odd at the same time.  You join for a monthly fee, then "check out" purses/bags like library books.  However, you have to pay a weekly or monthly fee for the purse of your choosing, plus round trip shipping and insurance if you'd like.  There's also waiting lists for purses.  Chris got a kick out of the Fendi bag that cost $235 per month.  He was baffled.  Unsurprisingly, I get why this site is in existance.

I won't be renting a bag from them any time soon.  I'm pretty content with my two good standbys.  Besides, I'm a mother to a baby right now so that means no purse carrying for me.  My trust billfold is kept in the diaperbag.  I wouldn't even know what to put in a purse right now!  And seriously. . .I've got better things to spend my money on.  I LIKE FOOD!! :)

Who's my baby's daddy?
Topic: Weirdness
For some reason or another, we happen to be rather intrigued with the Maury Povich Show, especially when they are doing paternity tests. I guess because they always find the most backwards people. . .you know. . .the girl that slept with her cousin or her boyfriend's stepdad's brother? Serves as a reminder that we don't have it all that bad.

But now we know why NOT to watch it in front of a 3 year old. The following is a conversation that transpired between Cale and my dad last weekend.

Cale ~ Odie, do you like steak?

Odie ~ Yes, I do.

Cale ~ Do you LOVE steak?

Odie ~ You could say I LOVE it.

Cale ~ Are you sure?

Odie ~ *giggling now* Yeah. . .I'm pretty sure.

Cale ~ Are you positive?

Odie ~ *now trying not to laugh* Yeah. . .I'm positive.

Cale ~ Are you 30 60 90 positive?

Odie ~ *unintelligible due to laughter*

Thank you Maury for providing my child with the need to go above and beyond the standard "100% positive."
